Palma | Cognac vs. rose & white

Palma. A lot of people asked me " What is so special about Palma". At least it is the history and the different culture that the conquerers brought there.
Palma was found by the Romans , after the fall of the Western Roman Empire the Byzantine period began, between 902-1229 the city was under Islamic control. In the year of 1229 the Christian reconquest began.
That was only the summary of what happened around this city historically.
Another point which turns Palma into a very special place for me is the architecture and the atmosphere of a big city close to the sea. I really love the view from the cathedral and all these little colored hispanic houses.
Simply the little alleys with their green wooden shutters gives me the feeling of holidays.
Besides I have to mention that most of the people equate Palma with with S'Arenal but there are a lot of differences. So if you always missed visiting Palma because of the image of S'Arenal, you really should take your time to see the beautiful city center.
My favorite place is the Passeig del Born (hopefully I wrote it correctly). This avenue in the heart of Palma is a little paradise for everyone who loves shopping. A lot of luxury labels are settled there like Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Loewe, Brunelli Cucinelli, Mulberry, Philipp Plein and many more.
These are my top 3 stores you really should visit:
1. Corner - The perfect shop for all fashion victims. There is a store for men and one for women with the newest trends from the best designers. Just to name a view labels they got: Valentino, Gucci, Fendi, Balenciaga, Prada, Etro.
2. Jayton - The destination for every gentlemen to search the perfect suite at the island. A very sophisticated shop showing the newest collections of Kiton, Zegna and Brioni.
3. Rialto Living - The perfect Concept Store with a mediterranean twist. in here you can find furniture, clothes, gadgets and many other things. You can also have lunch as well in the included restaurant
- the outfit -
1. Emanuel Berg made to measure shirt
2. Hugo Boss t-shirt
3. Hermès belt
4. Zara shorts
5. Mango espadrilles
6. Lozza shades
7. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak
(this photo was taken close to the cathedral)
So give Palma a chance to convince you!
Cheers,
Marc
