Did you ever reflected
on why there are new presentations of the big fashion houses in New York,
London, Milan and Paris twice a year?
Or why retailers like
Zara and H&M are changing their collections eight times in only 12 month ? Well
the answer to this question is ... You!
Fashion weeks are done, trends are set and we know what to
wear the coming season.
This is the endless circuit that moves this multibillion
dollar industry.
We often complain about the fast moving society but then
again we are those people who always ask for something new. Why?
Because we are trying to define ourselves. We want to bring
out our character to let other people see who we are, we want to be unique.
Since time
immemorial, humans tried to define theirselves with fashion and it stayed
the same
until now. (e.g: the old pharaos in Egypt were the only persons authorized to
wear the
atef-crown & nemes headdress, during the Renaissance only the kings wore
purpure &
the Sansculotte refused to wear breeches during the time of the French
Revolution
and set the first tile for our current pants design)
And the same
you could see if you have a look at the audience at the presentations
during
fashion week. Different characters, with different styles and different ways to
present theirselves.
The requirments of fashion are to satisfy all special needs of these
customers .
So the
fashion designers need to have a fine grasp for upcoming trends and the needs
of
the people.
So it’s all about give and take, like in nearly every area of life.
This is what
the designers are going to give to us next fall/winter (F/W
2015 season)
and what we are going to take!
1.Calf skin
& sheraling:
Next Fall/winter season’s big issue is going to be calf skin
and shearling. Not only on coats but also on backpacks, shoes and nearly every
accessory you could imagine.
Especially during LMC you could see it on nearly every
runway or presentation. Oliver Spencer, Burberry Prorsum, Tiger of Sweden, J.
W. Anderson & Belstaff only to name a few who decided to work with calfskin.
2.The undone look:
The way out of bed became a fashion statement. Dishevelled
hair, oversized shirts and pants and color blocking at its best. „Fashion? I
don’t care!“, that’ll be the statement for next winter. Texture, color and
pattern mix all in one outfit. Size ? Doesn’t matter, you only need a belt to
keep your pants at the right place. That is what we all saw during Milans
presentation of the most influenced fashion labels like: Bottega Veneta, Jil
Sander, Iceberg, Versace & Missoni.
3.Cord
I never thought of me saying this but Cord is coming back
and this is not an ideal threat. Cord is a very controversial discussed issue
from the beginning of time. And now an even bigger one. In the mind of most
people cord is connected with old men who aren’t interested in their styling
anymore. Nonetheless a few designers brought this fusty piece of fashion
history back on the runways. New cuts should arouse the interest of young
style-conscious men. That’s defintely
the plan of Boglioli, Dunhill & Ermenegildo Zegna. It’ll be interesting to
see if this trend will be consumer-captivating.
4.Turtlenecks
Last but not least: The turtleneck is back! A classic had
found his way back into the hearts of the designers. Next winter the turtleneck
will replace the shirt and tie under a suit or is going to be worn in a
nonchalant way with dress pants and a coat.
You simply cannot do anything wrong with classics like a
turtleneck. Lanvin, Hermès, Louis Vuitton & Berluti would agree on that
statement.
Conclusion: Now it’s
up to you! Decide which trend fits best to your personal needs. But if you are
not excited by the current trends don’t worry, the designers are already back
on their desks to create something brandnew especially for you!
